About Me
I write books for children and hope to announce an exciting project soon!
I have always been a creator, from making clothes from felt and glue for my small bear as a little girl, to baking extravagantly decorated cakes, canning anything that will fit into a jar, sewing dresses for little girls around the world, and, during the pandemic, sewing and giving away over 550 face masks to people in my community. I am happiest when I am making something. But the two things that have been the most constant part of my life are my desire to make music and a need for the written word. Singing, reading, writing, editing, critiquing—they are all ways to put something new into the world.
I received my degree in vocal performance from Northwestern University then continued on for a masters in elementary education. From there I served two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Uganda. After four years as an elementary school teacher, I entered the world of educational publishing, where I moved up the ranks to managing editor. My family became my next and current adventure. I am the proud mom of two great kids and wife of a super guy. My other loves are two crazy dogs, Fergus, who thinks he's a cat, and Luna, who is probably really a bear.
